I couldn’t help but lol at this considering the bands you listed aren’t actually of the genre emo… :L eg. The Acacia Strain, Bring Me The Hairspray, A Day To Remember, etc.

I didn’t read through them all, but I don’t think you’ve listed Bleed From Within.
People say they are similar to Bring Me, but I think they are sooo much better! Kennedy – the vocalist – actually screams, unlike Sykes.. Plus, they are AMAZING live! <3

Plot: The small island resort town of Amity is trying to bounce back from the financial problems it had after becoming known as the site of shark attacks four years ago. Mayor Larry Vaughn is welcoming developer Len Peterson and his new resort to Amity. Two scuba divers are exploring the area where the Orca sank after police chief Martin Brody killed a huge shark four years ago. A shark shows up and kills the two divers, but not before one of the divers takes a close-up picture of the shark’s eye, and sometime later, while a mother is driving a boat that’s pulling her water-skiing teenage daughter, the shark kills the daughter and causes the mother to accidentally blow up the boat, then a killer whale is found on the shore with a huge bite on it. After Brody sees this, he knows there’s another huge great white shark in Amity’s waters, but Vaughn and Peterson explain these attacks away as non-shark accidents, because the thought of another shark in Amity’s waters would drive tourists away from the new resort and cause the new resort to lose money. It looks like Vaughn is still a mayor who puts money ahead of people’s lives. Brody tips his gun’s hollow point bullets with cyanide and melted candle wax and tells his sons Michael and Sean to stay away from the beaches and tells them to not go sailing with Mike’s friends, who include Vaughn’s son Larry Vaughn Jr. Everyone thinks Brody’s fears are shark trauma-induced paranoia. Brody even tries to call his friend Matt Hooper, who is doing research on a boat in the Antarctic Circle, and Matt will be in the Antarctic Circle for a few more months. While keeping an eye on the waters from the beach’s shark tower, Brody sees a huge dark spot in the water and rings the tower’s alarm bell, but it turns out to be a school of bluefish. Vaughn fires Brody for causing this panic at the beach and scaring tourists and their money away, and even though they were told not to, Michael and Sean go out sailing with Junior Vaughn and their friends, unaware that the shark is trailing them. Brody knows it’s up to him to find them before the shark kills too many of them.

What is an MS attack?
I’ve been searching neurological issues for the past couple days and this has confused me. Here’s my situation:

I have been having an electric shock sensation on my jaw up by the ear for the past couple months. It would only last for a couple seconds-a minute and not very often, maybe once a week or less. I thought it because of my headphones and honestly haven’t thought anything of it until 2 days ago. I had many "shocks" within the same day, my face felt numb and I could taste novicane in my mouth except, of course, I didn’t have any. The left side of my face, where this was occurring became swollen. The shocks only lasted about 8 hours on and off, and after about 12 hours my face started to feel fine. Yesterday and today I feel fine until being awake for about 4 hours and then my face feels extremely sore, like I just got punched, with possible minor shocks but nothing enough for me to 2nd guess that those are just in my head.

I have a doctors appointment on Monday but just curious..

This is a toughie because I love so many genres! These are in order only by length of title because that’s what I do:
Casablanca
Gone with the Wind
Romeo & Juliet (1969)
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Jason & the Argonauts (1963)
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Outsiders tie w/ Rebel Without a Cause
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

On another day, I might come up with a slightly different list, but these came to mind as movies I never seem to tire of watching. That can be said of so many other movies: Ladyhawke, Dragonslayer, The Magnificent Seven, Cat Ballou, many musicals, The Haunting (1963), Bonnie and Clyde, some of Val Lewton’s productions, as well as many of Alfred Hitchcock’s creations, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, To Kill a Mockingbird, Star Wars saga (particularly IV), Jaws, Close Encounters…, Sean Connery’s James Bond movies, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, etc.
MystMoonstruck | Jan 28, 2010

Why does the author Nicholas Sparks make all his stories sad/depressing?
He is the author of major books that have been made into movies, such as, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, Message in a Bottle, Nights in Rodanthe and his most recent, Dear John.

Almost every book someone dies, or its extremely sad. Why does he do that?!

I went to watch him speak one time to promote his new book at the time (Three Weeks With My Brother). He made a point that although many people describe his books as romance books, he intends to write them as tragedies. I think he does it to make them real; life isn’t always happy. He lets you follow, and really feel his characters. And then you also feel the pain when somebody dies. Yes, his books often make me cry, but I will continue to read them because they feel so real to me, and I feel I have such a connections with his characters.

Life is sad sometimes. A little sadness can maybe make us appreciate the good things in life.

That and the fact that his books are selling like hotcakes and being made into movies. I think he will stick with his profitable style.

Eh, I need some major advice?
So I’m 23, lived at home all my life. Have always been really shy, traumatic past, I was molested when I was 10 years old. My mom has been my closest friend. I spent all of my time with her. Love her to death. I met a guy online who lived in Oregon. We talked on the phone 24/7 for 5 months straight. He is my soul mate so I moved to Oregon to be with him. Away from everything that I’ve known for 23 years. He can’t move to Tennessee, where I am from and my parents can’t move up here. It has to be up to me to decide where I want to be. That’s where I need some major advice! I don’t know what to do!!! My mom is my mom and she always will be and I think we can still be close through this distance. I just really miss being there, where I can give her a hug if I feel like it. I miss hanging out with her. I feel like I’m loosing time with her that I need to be there for. I am terrified I’ll regret this if anything ever happens to her. On the flip side, I love my fiance to death and I can’t stand to be without him. I want to grow up and be an adult and I feel I’m on my way, but this missing home thing is a major road block. If you were in my situation, would you move back to your home and live near your family or live across the continent with your love? I need some outside advice!

I have visited home three times in the six months that I have lived here, but plane tickets are SUPER expensive and finding time off work is hard.

I have talked to my mom about me missing her and home really really bad. She said she wants me to do what makes me happy, but has moments where she begs me to come back home. (and when I say home, i don’t mean move back in my parents house! I mean, to live in tennessee near them in my own place)

I also talked to my fiance about this and he also wants me to do what makes me happy and if that means going back home then I should. He said that he would rather have me smile than see me unhappy here in Oregon. I want to be here with him so so so bad, but a part of me won’t let go of missing home. I wish I could have both

The reason he won’t move to Tennessee is because he just got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, he’s 33 and because of his disease he can’t work at his job any more. His job was his life, it was what he loved doing, but can’t do it anymore. Right now he’s getting Social Security checks and is getting his medications, which are 1,000 bucks a pop that he has to take three times a week, for free. His doctor is even writing off his visits. He says he needs his family’s support through this and that he needs to be in Oregon because it is apart of who he is, just as Tennessee is so much a part of who I am. I want to move back to Tennessee with all my heart, but my love for him is stopping me. I don’t want to lose him.

this is really tough question to answer. your place is with your husband.he needs you more, because of his disease.I do not agree with him, because of your marriage vows.I know that you love your mom,but also they are very understanding, especilly the situation with your husband.she would be delighted to see you,but on the other hand she would tell you to stay were you are more needed at this time.alot of people wish they could have it both ways.also being with your husband for so many yrs, will you be alrihgt to leave him, when really to me it would be the wrong time.would you be able to cope leaving him.good luck and god bless you both
mommy r | Feb 09, 2010

This situation has a double edged sword. You have fallen in love and gotten engaged to a man who needs you a million times more than your Mother and you probably don’t even realize it because you are so used to living with his disease each and everyday. Trust me, I have Lupus and am in the "bad" stages and people take for granted that I "do well" because I refuse to let people see me down. He probably struggles with his disease more than he would ever let you know but pride and not wanting to hurt you and concern you with his "health problems" stops him from telling you how much he truly needs you.
Your Mother is your Mother and you moved away to build your own family and start your own life. Your Mother did it when she married her Husband and you have to do the same thing. It is time for you to spread your wings and fly.
Perhaps you and your fiance could work something out where you could go visit your Mother a couple of times a year or your Mother could come visit you as often as possible. Make the best of visits but understand that you love this man and that this man needs you so much more than your Mother who already has a family. You are growing up and need to break away from the nest…you are 23 years old…almost a quarter of a century old. Perhaps God brought the two of you together to teach you to be stronger and wiser and how to "love harder".
Nothing in life is easy but apparently "loving him" is because you mentioned several times how much you love him. Stay where you are and arrange as many "Mom" visits as you can. Home is where you hang your hat and now your is in Oregon with your Fiancee. Good luck.
Peace, Love & Happiness

The future of RL & expansion, how would you structure the comp(s), which Clubs would be involved?
An oldie, but as far as i know it still hasn’t been resolved over the four years i’ve been frequenting this site. I absolutely believe their should be a two tiered comp, like the English Premier League & have a relogation system for the wooden spooners, we could bring back all the foundation Clubs & blood new Clubs in the 2nd Division, before reviewing each Clubs worth to play in the Premier Competion. Merged Clubs would still have their foundation Club team in 2nd Division eg. West Tigers – First Division, Western Suburbs Magpies – 2nd Division. Balmain Tigers – 2nd Division. Each merged Clubs foundation team would act as the old reserve Grade team as a feeder into First Grade.

Oh & its my Birthday today & I already apologised to Mel & look forward to some great answers, especially from women, because they often make better Managers than men & multi-task a lot easier.

Example format:

Premier Grade:

Parramatta Eels
West Tigers
Sydney City Roosters
Penrith Panthers
Sydney Bulldogs
Auckland Warriors
Brisbane Broncos
Melbourne Storm
Canberra Raiders
North Queensland Cowboys
Gold Coast Titans
St George Dragons

2nd Division:

Souths Sydney Rabitohs
Illawarra Steelers
North Sydney Bears
Wentworthville Magpies
Cronulla Sutherland Sharks
Western Reds
West Magpies
Balmain Tigers
Broncos Reserves – toowoomba etc…
Papua New Gunea Kumuls
Aboriginal dream time
New Zealand Maori

I got bored & lost my way, but can someone redifine the way RL should be, cheers.
Thanks, Mel, great points, i was thinking about those as a wrote this, but really I don’t think the Toyota Cup is living up to expectation & the Bundi Cup (old Metro Cup is a light year away in standard). I think it would be great to have an Indigenous & Pacific Islander teams, its only 20 players, a few from each Club & most established Stars are still Contracted.

Personally, I don’t like the idea at all. I think it’s too complex. We already have the Toyota cup sides which feed into the first grade squad. In the case of St George Illawarra Dragons we have several feeder clubs, one from St George, one from Steelers and the Shellharbour Dragons.

If they did implement it, it would take so long before it was all in place and working properly that we’d probably be retired before it happened.

One big problem I see with your suggested teams though. Have indigenous sides is going to take a lot of players away from the other clubs. Just look at Tigers and Panthers for example, they have lots of indigenous players, if they had to remove them they would struggle to find numbers.

And happy birthday.

* I think the individual clubs should be responsible for their own feeders. If they don’t have a decent feeder club developing their junior players then they have to buy them all. Look at the Roosters.

 Mel | Aug 20, 2009

Yeah sorry mate but it won’t work. The NRL is already having trouble attracting sponsorship, players and interest, imagine how much a 2nd tier comp would suffer! We already have a couple of second tier comps, the QLD cup and the Jim Beam cup, and they are of a standard way lower than first grade. England is a different case because there are way more people (and potential supporters) in England, everyone fanatically follows the same code, and English supporters will continue to go to the most dire standard of football every single game just because that’s their club.
I do think the NRL has to expand though. We need a team in Perth, a second team in NZ, a team in Papua New Guinea, and a fourth and fifth QLD team.
laurie_plan | Aug 20, 2009

I like your idea Wayne but I think it should of been implemented when the Super League War finished and the NRL started. That way there wouldn’t of been a need to merger so many clubs and the game could of expanded a lot faster with some regional clubs playing in the second division competition. A two tiered competition would still work in today’s game but it would be a logistical nightmare trying to re-organise clubs that have already merged and might take a few years to get it working smoothly, but it would be worth it. I remember in the good old days when your club actually had a first grade, second grade, and a third grade team who all played on the same day and usually at the same ground. With a two tiered competition there will a lot more on the line for the individual clubs looking down the barrel at relegation while at the same time it would give some clubs from the second division the chance to field a team in the best Rugby League competition on the planet, the NRL !! This can only help the NRL as it would be expanding the game in areas that were previously not considered as new teams are formed and old clubs thought gone for good would attract new players, supporters and sponsors.
Mick | Aug 20, 2009

I think one comp but bring back Reserve Grade. Then the injured or struggling players who are older than 20 can still train and play for their NRL team instead of being pushed back into park footy. Maybe teams who don’t want a reserve grade team can nominate a team, such as Newtown, to represent them at Reserve Grade level.

As for your team choice, Where is the Central Coast team?
With the CC Mariners planning to build a new stadium and training complex at Tuggerah (North Central Coast), Blue Tongue will be ready to be just a Rugby League Stadium.
The raccoon stole my bagpipes | Aug 20, 2009

Not bad in theory but there are a few flaws in the arguement.

Firstly, and most importantly, you seem to have lost the Sea Eagles somewhere in the planning.

Secondly, if this is a relegation type system, how can you have Wests Tigers as well as the Balmain and Western Suburbs clubs? What if Balmain or Wests won 2nd division or Wests Tigers got relegated, how could the clubs manage the priorities? If Balmain and Wests Tigers ended up in the same comp, surely Balmain would make the Balmain side a priority as Wests would do if the same happened to them. Eventually the Wests Tigers merged side would disappear?

I don’t think an aboriginal side would work. Sure there would be a bunch of players that wanted to play for the aboriginal side but what’s to stop them buying white players like any other clubs do?

I think the Toyota Cup is great but what about those fringe players over 20 who can’t quite hold a spot in the NRL. They say Props don’t mature until they’re at least 25. I think there should be somewhere for these players to go to hold on to chances of breaking into regular first grade. The old reserve grade was great, clubs could bring injured players back through the lower grades and it was a reasonable step from one to the other. NSWRL and QRL really need to look at the lower grade comps because the Jim Beam Cup and QLD Cup are a joke.
Aaron S | Aug 20, 2009

Yeah we’ll cull Manly for no apparent reason.
Brilliant idea!

After the theft of a famous painting from Claude Monet, the only person suspecting Thomas Crown is Catherine Banning. Her job is to get the picture back, no matter how she accomplishes her mission. Unfortunately, Catherine gets involved too deeply with Thomas to keep a professional distance to the case. Fortunately, Thomas seems to fall for her, too.

Aren't you tired of people calling Cristiano Ronaldo 'Ronaldo'?
I mean, his full name is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, Aveiro being his mother’s name. He knew that one of the best players of all time was called Ronaldo so why not use the name Aveiro? Even as a kid, the boy was disrespectful, arrogant, and deluded.

He is a great player, but history will remember him as not even the best player with his own name lol.

I bet he actually thinks he will become a bigger legend than Ronaldo of Brazil, the true phenomenon.

I never call him Ronaldo, it’s either Cristiano or C Ronaldo. I think we have to distinguish as he is not worthy of the name. I also think that if I refer to him as simply Ronaldo someone will think I am a post 2000 clown who isn’t even aware of the real Ronaldo’s existence.

Shouldn’t this charlatan be made to change his name? He is making a mockery of that legendary name and I and many other don’t like it.
No need for sarcasm, I think it’s pretty fair.

He sullies the name of the legend Ronaldo, it’s just not right. The audacity of the gimp.

Well.. There is one and only Ronaldo.. and he’s not playing for Real Madrid, but for Corinthians in Brazil..

 nazone11 | Jan 23, 2010

Well, I will never refer to him as Ronaldo again.
Now that you’ve explained it all, why, I’m just outraged about it. I called my wife over to read your post and she’s outraged about Cristiano too.
And then I called in the neighbors, and THEY are upset and we are going to get some pitch forks and torches and go over and burn that bastards house down, TONIGHT!
Thank god you have pointed all this out to us.
tropnhof | Jan 22, 2010

Hating on Cristiano a bit there i see haha.

He is undeniably a great player and will be one of the greatest of this time. I can say already that even once he retires he won’t replace the standing of the real Ronaldo.

However he does have the right to that name as everyone knows him as Cristiano Ronaldo. Many players don’t go with their last name on their back eg, Gio, Jo, Chucho.

He’s not breaking the law so it be best if u got over it.
kman4footy | Jan 22, 2010

no not really , bcuz personally even if he got really good , for me i like the old ronaldo better

Satanists diserve rights to their faith!?
I ama proud Satanist. I AM NOT evil and DO support murder or sacrifice in any way. I am a good soul and my faith is important to me. Sadly, these days people dont like those like me. I know many are afraid of me, it is sad but I know. However, I have a first amendmant right to practice my religion! I do nothing wrong and follow the law so do all the people who give me crud for it break my rights? If you are a christian or close minded person then DO NOT answer this. By telling me I cant practice my faith, are(schools, work, ect) breaking the law and my constitutional right?

Satanism is a legally legit religion, no one can tell you not to practice it
satan.is.lord | Feb 08, 2010

Do what you like the consequences are yours and yours alone. The outcome of your life is your choices. Glad you can live with it.
Sassymama | Feb 08, 2010

You DO support murder or sacrifice in any way ? Then you sure DO deserve to be banned from practising such a trespassing faith .
Architect | Feb 08, 2010

"However, I have a first amendmant right to practice my religion!"

Hey, guess what? It’s a two way street! That’s right, the same amendment that protects your right to practice Satanism ALSO protects the rights of other people to make fun of your ridiculous, childish, and stupid beliefs!

No one is stopping you from practicing your religion, you’re just too sensitive! Get over it!
Red | Feb 08, 2010

Satanism unlike christianity is a law abiding religion of morals and ethics
satan.lovesus | Feb 08, 2010

so long as you are not violating the law you have a right to believe whatever fairy tale you chose to believe.

If you support Satan, you support murder. Because as God’s word says, he was a manslayer from the beginning and the father of the lie. John 8:44
i have a very good friend that is a satanist (theistic) and he is the nicest person ive ever met

satanism IS a religion and you have the right to freely practice it how ever you want
The Greatest Atheist | Feb 08, 2010

You don’t sound like a member of the Church of Satan. You sound like a Theistic Satanist. There is a VERY big difference there and you should be more clear. Of course, you would have known that if you were being serious.

In America you have the legal right to any religion you choose so long as practicing that religion does not violate any laws.
Kirby | Feb 08, 2010

You actually are a pretty bad person if you support murder and sacrifice and that means you aren’t a ‘good soul’ as you put it. What your doing is a form of rebellion and you have every right to do it, as long as you don’t carry out your murderous tendencies, but seriously grow up and think about how stupid your faith is, or any other faith for that matter.
D | Feb 08, 2010

It sounds like you are a LaVeyan satanist. I don’t personally have a problem with that belief system. I think that maybe we should have more freedom of expression in our schools; groups like the ACLU want to go in the opposite direction and ban any type of religious expression from such places. I’m not sure that is the right idea. As to work, I think that employers have a right to set the standards for their work environment. If they don’t want you preaching satanism at the office (or wherever), you don’t have to work there.
Weston | Feb 08, 2010

Did you even read this before you posted it? Seriously? "diserve?" "I AM NOT evil and DO support murder or sacrifice in any way"?

I’m no Christian, and I’m all for equal rights- but right now I think you should exercise your right to free press and go hit a library. Pay very close attention to any books that teach about phonics and spelling… OR JUST START PROOFREADING so you won’t continue to look poorly educated.

Remember- to a Satanist, aesthetics are important. This question and the quality of work put into it is sore on the eyes.
4NICK8 | Feb 08, 2010

Yes, Satanism is afforded the same legal rights as any "mainstream" religion like Christianity. If your school or work is infringing on your rights, I’d get a lawyer. Hey, you know the guy is gonna be on your side.
Super Atheist to the Rescue | Feb 08, 2010

No one have a right to stop anyone from their religion either good or bad. But yes they can guide you to good path. But its up to you whether you accept others guidance or not. If you support murder and sacrifice then well what can I do? I can, however, advice you that murder isn’t good thing. And yes, you can’t stop other persons from loving or hating you. If they hate u then there are two choices, either ignore them and be loyal to your faith or just quit violence (or whatever wrong with satanism; I don’t know much about it.)
Pravesh | Feb 08, 2010

I am going to assume you meant to say "and Don’t support murder or sacrifice in any way".

First….keep in mind that when you say "Satanist" you are referring to something completely new and different than what the term meant just fifty years ago.

Most older folk assume you are referring to the christian form of Satanism, that was a deliberate desecration of christian rites, and worshiped their being of evil.

Do you deserve the right to practice your faith ?…sure, as long as you are not breaking any laws.
However you can’t really belly ache about people miss judging you, when you are the one taking a word and completely changing it’s original meaning.

Levay and others originally thought it was a gas to use that term and piss of christians, but the consequence of using a negative term, and attempting to re-write the meaning, is that most people will not accept your new definition.
Nighttree | Feb 08, 2010

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
(Romans 1:18-32 ESV)
